How to use Color Optimizer
Open photos and choose a look
Open one or more photos, choose one of twelve looks and set its intensity from 0 to 100%. Use the Result, Compare and Original views to refine your edits. Full screen provides a larger preview.
Colors, reference and HDR
Adjust brightness, contrast, saturation, temperature, tint, shadows, highlights and matte blacks. For white balance, click an area that should actually be neutral. Under Reference, transfer another photo’s color look. The HDR tab balances tones and enhances local contrast; it creates an SDR look, not a true HDR file.
Remove the background
Under Cut out, choose Fast or Fine detail and start automatic detection. Erase and Restore let you correct the mask with a brush; individual strokes can be undone. Adjust the edge and choose a transparent, white or custom color background. Apply cutout switches the mask on or off.
Add more photos with the same settings
Newly added photos inherit the active photo’s settings: look, sliders, white balance, reference, HDR, output format and quality. All files selected together use the same settings. If background removal was enabled, a separate mask is calculated for each new subject. Photos already open remain independently editable.
Save, collect and send to WebP
Save image opens the file name and save destination options. Download JPG, PNG or WebP at the original resolution, or collect edited images as lossless PNGs in the browser collection. Use Continue in WebP Generator to send them for cropping, resizing and compression. Keep both tabs open until confirmation.
Local processing on your device
Editing, background removal and export run in your browser; your photos are not uploaded for processing. Application and AI model files are downloaded when the app loads or as needed. Current edits and the collection belong to this browser.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the first background removal take longer?
Fast downloads about 17 MB on first use, including the AI runtime. The detail model requires about 183 MB, plus the runtime if needed. Later runs may use the browser cache. Processing time and memory use depend on your device.
Does automatic background removal work with every subject?
The AI looks for the main subject. Check hair, fur and transparent objects in particular, and correct the mask with the brush if needed. Esc exits the brush; Ctrl + Z or ⌘Z undoes a stroke when the brush has focus.
Which output formats preserve transparency?
PNG and WebP preserve transparent areas. JPG does not support transparency; any remaining transparent areas become white in JPG exports. A selected background color is already part of the result.
How many photos can I open, and how large can they be?
Up to ten photos at once. Each image can have up to 40 megapixels and 16,384 pixels per side. Added photos inherit the active photo’s settings; file name, dimensions and image analysis remain specific to each photo.
Are settings kept after reloading?
Settings carry over within the open tab, even after removing the last photo. Reloading ends the current editing session. The collection stores finished images, not restorable editing projects.
Is the collection a backup?
No. It stores up to 100 images or 1 GiB locally; your browser may run out of space sooner. Clearing website data or cleaning the browser can remove these images. Download important results as well.
What if the transfer to WebP does not arrive?
Use the same browser, allow the new tab and keep both tabs open until confirmation. Image files are transferred directly between the tabs. You can also download them normally.
Can the HDR look recover missing image detail?
No. The HDR look and color controls work with existing image information. They cannot reconstruct completely clipped or missing detail. Use the intensity controls for a subtle effect.
